19 March 2017 HANOI - The Philippine Embassy in Hanoi organized a forum for the Filipino Community on 19 March 2017 as part of the National Women's month celebration.
The Guest Speaker, Ms. Hoang Phuong Thao, Country Director of ActionAid Vietnam gave a talk on how Vietnamese women play important roles in the political, economic, and social fields in Vietnam. She also discussed the challenges that Vietnamese women encounter and how these challenges are addressed through ActionAid's programs. Ms. Thao also introduced a smart phone application called S-City or Safe Cities for Women which is a tool to establish supporting channels for smartphone users, especially for women and girls, who have plans of travelling, living and working in other cities.
Several Filipino participants also shared their personal experiences in addressing issues concerning women migrant workers in Vietnam.
