PH Embassy in Vietnam Opens Art Exhibition: Colors of Culture

            The Philippine Embassy in Hanoi, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Vietnam officially opened the "Vietnam-Philippines: Colors of Culture" art exhibition on 08 December 2021 at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts. The photography and woven product exhibition was opened by the Deputy Minister for Culture, Sports and Tourism Mr. Ta Quang Dao and Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam Meynardo LB. Montealegre in celebration of the 45th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Philippines and Vietnam.

            The exhibition depicts the unique features of the two countries: the land and the landscapes, culture and festivities, as well as peoples of the Philippines and Vietnam in a number of captivating photographs provided by the Department of Tourism in Manila, National Commission for Culture and the Arts and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam.

            Along with the photographs, the exhibition also showcases hand woven materials, fabrics and textiles of Philippines and Vietnam to illustrate interwoven linkages between the two countries as exemplified by their woven products. Philippine products include mats of Tagolwanen, Sama Badjao and Tikog, Inabel of Ilocos, Itneg tapis, Ga'dang fabric and beaded belt, Yakan sepatungan and hand woven cloth, Hablo of Iloilon, Abaca fabric, Inaul of Maguindanao, and T'nalak of South Cotabato.

            During the opening ceremony, Mr. Dao, shared the importance of the exhibition as an opportunity for people and international friends to know and understand the country, people and achievements of Vietnam and Philippines over the years and at the same time contribute to strengthening and further promoting the strategic partnership between them.

            For his part, Ambassador Montealegre expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as partner for working assiduously to realize the holding of the exhibition. He also added that "these Colors of Culture will not fade away. They will, in time, become even brighter and shinier as the two countries continue to pursue with vigor, their Strategic Partnership in the next 45 years and beyond."

            The Philippines and Vietnam established a diplomatic relations on 12 July 1976. It has grown stronger and deeper through the years in terms of scope, breadth and depth of bilateral cooperation. In 2015, the two countries elevated their relationship into a Strategic Partnership entering a new phase of renewed strength and vitality. Nowadays, the relations are highlighted by robust and enduring political and economic partnership, as well as close and friendly people-to-people engagements.

            The exhibition was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, including ASEAN Heads of Mission, and Vietnamese government officials.

            It will run from 08 December to 13 December 2021 at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.
