PH EMBASSY ATTENDED THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ESTABLIHMENT OF THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY
The PH Embassy attended the 30th anniversary celebration of the establishment of Thai Nguyen University and the awarding ceremony for its receipt of the First Class Labor Medal on 4 April 2024. The activities were held in Thai Nguyen City, approximately 85 kilometers from Hanoi.
Vietnam Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan was present at the event to award the First-Class Labor Medal and deliver remarks. She recognized the university’s achievements particularly in scientific research, a number of which have been published in both local and international scientific journals.
Thai Nguyen University is one of the largest universities in Vietnam and is very active in university partnerships with universities around the world including the Philippines. It is currently affiliated with two universities in the Philippines: Southern Luzon University and Laguna University and has 68 Filipino students enrolled in various programs both in undergraduate and graduate programs such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science and Management, Agricultural Economic, Business Administration and Accountancy.
The PH Ambassador had the opportunity to meet with 35 of the 68 Filipino students studying at the university after a brief wreath-laying ceremony before the bust of Dr. Jose Rizal and Ho Chi Minh. The meet and greet allowed the students to share their personal backgrounds and talk about their experience in the university and living in Vietnam in general, which they have been enjoying.
Associate Professor Dr. Ha Xuan Linh, the Dean of the International School in Thai Nguyen University and Vice Dean Tran Luu Hung thanked the Embassy for visiting the school on this momentous occasion for the university and to meet with the students. They proposed to hold a cultural exchange event with the Embassy which the undersigned agreed to organize for the 4th quarter of this year.

PH EMBASSY'S PARTICIPATION IN HOI AN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL'S INTERNATIONAL WEEK, 21-23 FEB 2024
Post participated in Hoi An International School's International Week on 21-23 February through provision of cultural reading materials published by Filipino authors and writers, display of cultural items and distribution of Filipino snacks "guisantes espesyal". Post also provided various tourism brochures and Philippine-made colorful fans for the parents and guests. The set up, display and distribution of said materials and items were done by Post through the assistance of Ms. Jennifer Turner, a Filipino teacher working at the said school.

PH EMBASSY PARTICIPATED IN THE TET FAIR AT VINSCHOOL-TIMES CITY
Post set-up an international cultural exchange booth showcasing various Philippine cultural items, a variety of reading materials written and published by Filipino authors suitable for Vinschool high school students, a traditional game "sungka", tourism brochures and Filipino sweet delicacy "ensaymada" as giveaways.
Post representatives likewise met several Filipino teachers teaching math and science in Vinschool High School.
Embassies from France, United Kingdom and Japan also joined the event showcasing their diverse culture that enriches the experiences of Vinschool High School students and broadening their perspectives on cultural heritage, languages, cuisines, arts and traditions.
